Gimme #5 For Maggi! Gimme #250 For Pant!

Oh My Darlings!!
I have missed you all!!!!
Seriously, seriously,I think this blog is a family away from family oo.
How has your week being?
Mine has been as usual, long days+short nights+read, read, read, but this week has been awesome nonetheless,I hope its same for you.
And yay!!
I am deleting Thursday from the week so today is friday to me,Its weekend baby!*dancing around*

Abeg,Let me come back to the matter before I dance go…
As you well know, today is Thursday Talk-Talk,and the subject matter is…Gimme all the money I need,in fact eh,even gimme the 250naira for my pant!

It seems funny yeah?
But its a trend o,in the home of some married women and in the life of some single ones in a relationship alike.

I had a conversation with two different guys this week on this same topic.
The first is yoruba and he said in their land, the ladies believe that the man should provide,as in,ONLY the man should provide and whether things are going well for him or not, they will never chip in.
In fact eh,if he nor fit drop money for food sef,He go hungry that day because their one naira nor go drop.
The second guy talked along that line too..
And when I said that I am a business oriented person and I did business in University and when I leave this Law School,I go like do same, the yoruba guy exclaimed;- “you are a woman na,what do you need money for? Your husband will take care of you”
Suffice it to say that by the time I said what I really felt about this matter to him,I could see him shaking my hand in his mind.hehehe…

But seriously,I sincerely feel that,I do not need to look for a rich man specifically to marry(if God give me sha, ofcourse I go take am)
But I do not need to latch unto a man’s cash.
Why the heck will I do that?
So I will be asking him for 5naira salt and maggi and 250naira to be buying pant anytime I need it??
Which man sef go happy say he wife dey do like that?

For me,If the guy God has for me has good prospects with vision, hardworking and ready to be more,et all…
Then,That’s more than enough.
With that, with God,my encouragement,we will spur each other to greater, wealthier heights!
The money will roll in!

And if per chance, things are not working well for him,I should be able to pitch in and help.
After all,I am meant to be a help meet, and financially too.
So yes,I still need my own money!
I need not latch unto a man for his cash, that gives power that you cannot imagine to him.
If he nor gimme the 250naira for my pant nko? I will na go naked??

I have a friend whose mum is late now that catered for the home when the man was jobless for about 2-3years,I can tell you that, that man cherished his wife to earth and back before she died(God rest her soul)
Remember that the virtuous woman also spinneth wool with her hands and handled merchant goods from afar for her business? She wasn’t waiting for her man to give her everything.
So to me,its never about latching unto a man for his cash….
Its not about waiting for one man to be funding me with cash and all I need financially, while,I will be at best,a lay about in such a situation.
Ah,that’s not a place to be at all…

The expression one of the guys I spoke to made was like;- “are you for real? Like women like you still exist?”

I just laughed.
Yes,I want to believe that more like me exist o…
But Oza(means man in my language), this has to be balanced o.
Don’t go and use this as a reason for you to turn into a gigolo and be chopping good women’s cash or not taking care of them, that kind of man nor get respect for himself…
Of course we all know that the man is the provider for the home like the Bible says one who doesn’t provide for his family is worse than an infidel.
So yes o,its your duty to take care of your wife…

And…if you really want her to chip in,empower her! ie,school, job, business, etc, nor just leave her for house there and be complaining that all she does is chop your money(this is a post for another day)

I am only saying, that nothing stops the woman from helping if need be and the idea of “he must give me money for all, including buying me the 200naira toothpaste” is appalling.
Gone are the days when women just sit and look and chop!
Now,I’d like to believe that women know that they should be empowered to be more,to do more,to have something they do with their hands,to have their own sources of income and not wait around on only the man’s (and not to use this to “lord” it over their husbands o,this is also a post for another day)…

Well, well, this is my own submission,if you have a dissenting view,as in,to you,its good to ask your man for everything, even for 20naira biro, talk am.
If you agree with me and even have more reasons to add to the ones I gave, talk am too…
After all, today na Thursday Talk-Talk,let’s talk about something else other than books or work (God knows am tired of that)…
So Talk ya own!!!

Btw,my advice for you today is,if you have low self esteem issues/you just don’t feel good about yourself/your confidence seems to be going down/you just want a natural high to start the day with…try exercising!
Kai! There’s no limit to the exhilarating feeling just 30minutes of exercising can do for you.
Yeah,yeah,I feel gooooood!
You’ll be guaranteed to feel like that too.

And before I forget, the guys too, abeg tell us how you feel when your babe/wife asks you for that 200naira pad or 500naira deodorant,I like know una side of the story too.
Remember, what I am saying doesn’t exclude you from taking care of your woman o!!!
Every man should know that he should do that…

#Much Love.

  1. Love this!
Gone are the days when women were entirely dependent on men. I can even imagine how frustrating it would be if someone kept asking me for money for little things like maggi and pant…ah…ah! There’s no way that man can value you much. My grandmum used to be a major advocate of a woman having her own source of income no matter how small it is. It helps with sanity in the home. BTW men shld not now take it for granted that their wives have incomes and use it as a reason not to but her things. A woman would love and respect her man more when he provides for her. Afterall that’s his constitutional/biblical responsibility…lol

    • Hehehe at constitutional obligation, but na true o,dis is in no way taking away d duty of a man..

  2. Men cannot comprehend the magnitude of a woman’s expenditure. If you’re buying a car or house, he will understand, but not makeup and those things that make us happy. Eventually, he will become irritable because the burden is too much. Do yourself a favor and generate some income. No matter how rich he is, you don’t need to neglect your dynamic brain.
