What I Live For…

I did promise to write about what the season means to me and belated though it is, I still have to make good on that promise, no?
Yes! 😀
Christmas and this season was full with all the “senge-menge” you can imagine and I ate it all here too (to the detriment of my weight loss goals.*sigh*)
Yeah, yeah, the food made so much sense, but that wasn’t all there was to it.
I didn’t just eat, I also had lots of time to reflect on a lot of things…
Whose life have I touched with the privilege of the knowledge that Christ was born?
Was I letting the fact that the word was made flesh go to waste in my life?
Was I living in ZOE?
Was I spreading the love of Christ?

And in light of the above, I bundled my small self, my small wherewithal and my awesome friends andwe spent boxing day opening our small boxes in Orem Orphanage in Ughelli, Delta State.

Notice the guy on red? real trouble maker, kai!

And Aaron fell in love with this guy cuz he said he wants to be a governor...just like Aaron.

The smiles on the kids faces? Priceless!

notice the troublemaker here again? he was making faces..hehehe

and the director’s prayers for us? Heavenly!
It showed me what I am meant to do with Christ’s light in me.
And that’s what the season should be all about.
And beyond the season, it showed me what I am meant to do ALL THE TIME with Christ’s light in me.

Let’s all take stock of our lives for a minute, and this isn’t about visiting an orphanage. Let’s answer these questions using the normal seemingly mundane activities in our lives…
Whose life did you touch for good in 2013?
Who did you encourage?
Who did you spur on to be the best they can be?
Who did you make their lips lift up in a smile?
Who did you lend a helping hand?
Who did you build mansions in their hearts?

You see those clothes you wore on March 29th 2013? No one remembers what they were exactly, but I bet you, if you did a good deed for someone that day, something as seemingly small as uplifting their spirits on a gloomy day, that they will remember.

I read of a lady who passed away this year, (may she RIp). When she was alive she could lend a helping hand to souls she didn’t know, even bring them into her home to live with her, she was that good.
I imagine those lives she touched for good remember her with a smile today, they remember her with fondness for the legacy she left.
And that is exactly what I want to leave behind in this world.
That is what we should live for.

with Emily…

Not for the aldo shoes or the hermes bag, not for the samsung galaxy/other smart phones, not for the sprawling mansion in Banana Island, not just for your immediate family, but for letting the light in you shine unto as many lives as you can.
For building mansions in the hearts of others – that kind of legacy never fades.

Take stock of 2013 and make changes as you deem fit.
Let your light to shine to others.
Let others smile at the thought of your memory.
This is what I live for.
This is what I want to live for.
This is what I hope to continue to live for.
This is what we should all live for.
